A train coach for everyone

Its the party time of the year as today was my nephew's birthday, a day before we say goodbye to the current year. My sister and their small cute family live just close by, lucky me that they are amazing models too and very creative with lots of amazing ideas giving us interesting subjects to shoot always. This was a result of a fabulous team work, a perfect treat for the kids and my favorite to be selected for my post of the day.

Pitstop at Dawn

Our way back wasn't as pleasant as before as we were five of us travelling with luggage in our small car. Eventually it worked out well for me as we reached the Ghats before sunrise and this looked like a nice place to stop by as I knew the rest of the journey would be mostly through dry roads/highways of Karnataka.

A minute before

This was taken near the Thottada beach located in Kannur district, Kerala. It was a lucky shot just a minute before the sun disappeared in the horizon. I just stepped out of my car, saw this, quickly took out my camera to capture this beautiful moment. Its a lovely walk in this quiet beautiful beach with a small river and few resorts nearby adding to the charm of the place. This place is unique in its own and a must visit for anyone visiting this part of Kerala.

La Lumiere

When I first saw this house it took me back to the days when we used to play with barbies and wished to own a dream house one day. Who knew life would present me one day with not just a model dream house but a real one. La Lumiere meaning "the light" is my in-laws house where every brick was placed and executed by them with years of saving and planning. It has been literally a dream for them which they brought to reality with all their hard work and efforts. It has a lovely balcony with flowers in fulll bloom at this time of the year. My father in law wanted a picture of the house with his home garden in full bloom. I was more than happy to do this for him as I knew it would be a lovely post for my project.

Motion Blur

I was super excited, literally jumping from my seat when I got this click, but all I got from him is "ehh... you haven't seen that before? It's motion blur." I am quite happy with my first motion blur pic with the visible car portions giving it a realistic action drama to it although being over exposed I lost the details in the sky which would have added to the beauty. I have been so obsessed with clicking just people and landscapes that I never explore much of the other beautiful aspects of photography.

Landscape Glass

We started at 5am to Kerala, with some baked cake and sapota for the road. Both were so yumm yumm. The drive is always pleasant in the beginning but as the time goes and it gets sunny and it gets so difficult. Especially this time we dint sleep at all the previous night. I was working on my last post, remember! And yes you heard me right, it's sunny and hot in December—so hard to imagine when I have spent most of my life in North where the maximum temperature is 12ÂșC now!

The moment I saw the view on his sunglasses, I knew this would be my next post and a perfect way to depict our drive to Kerala.

Merry CHristmas

It's 2am in the morning, supposed to leave to our native at 5am and we are here, excited to implement an idea I came across a few days back. Our new Speedlite got delivered today and its Christmas season hence a perfect time to attempt such a shot. So I put on my Santa hat and took care of the art department while he was the DoP this time. I call him my technical assistant these days—not that he like this designation much. :D but to be honest, he was the one who gave me the required push at the right time.

Etta behind my etta

The days I decide not to cook we go to this small Malayali mess where we get some nice Malabar biryanis. Nowadays we try to avoid the big restaurants so that once in a while when we go out for a date, we feel like it's a date night rather than just any of the non cooking days.

While we wait for our food to arrive, I get this quick shot of this etta indulged in his Malayalam newspaper while my etta is busy sipping Sprite. (I hate when he drinks those sugary, good for nothing drinks but more on that later) Apparently in Malayalam, brother and husband both are called "chetta/etta" hence the title.  I always found it very amusing and after going deep into the topic, I found it is the term used for elderly and sounds cute as well as respectful.

A Long Drive

Love the picture the way it leaves a feel of a cool breeze, lovely view, empty roads and some awesome music, hence a perfect long drive. You could feel that right?

On the contrary, it was just a usual drive to the amazing DRDO campus next to our house and just a shot of a car passing by this nice curve. This road is away from the city traffic with tall trees on both sides of the road. Its also the place where I did most of my scooty training and leaves me with an amazing feeling whenever I pass by.

Red Beauty

There is a story behind every small detail in our life which we forget to appreciate while we pursue the rat race. After I started this project I feel more connected to each day of my life. There is a small story behind these flowers too, how they landed up in the vase of our dining space.

From one of my scooty training days when I was finally allowed to drive on the main roads, I wanted to make the drive productive so I drove to the florist and picked up these beautiful flowers. Never knew they would turn out to be beautiful subjects for my project, not to mention its a beautiful sight every morning to see these flowers blooming happily saying good morning to me.

Strawberry Delight

This is not only what I feel right now on getting my "first not so bad macro shot". This is also what I named this new dessert he made on his birthday with the left over strawberries. I was never a fan of strawberries until he made this one so I got few more berries today to try his recipe. Before we could binge on it we decided to try out some macro photography and played a bit with lights and got few yummy shots. I can still feel the taste, something sweet, zesty, chocolaty.. yumm..

Dinner at Indijoe

Reflections play a major role in making this picture appealing.
He has been tempted to have steak for long so we headed to the nearby food court with few friends and ordered some awesome steaks. The ambiance there looked perfect for my project shot so here it is.

My Favorite photo from the Birthday night. He says birthdays are just another day but finally it turns out that somewhere in some corner of his heart he expects something special probably his expectations increased since we met. So, now that I know, will make it a point to do something special every birthday, not just for his happiness but mine too. The joy to see his teary eyes and delight is out of words.

A day of love, happiness and gratitude

My first attempt with  the black forest cake for his birthday.

After 5 years of surprising him with numerous surprise plan attempts I finally realized a lazy day in front of his computer, some random browsing with no nagging and little bit pamper is like a perfect day for him. So that's the special gift for him this birthday ;). Happy birthday Love!

Scooty training with him

This is the time when we start away happily while we reach a spot where he can give the scooty to me to drive. On the way something happens, either he is too strict or I wanna go little extra, he shouts,  I react and then we come back grumpy. So I decided to get this quick click before that grumpy moment.

Today was one of those days when I drove all by myself back home probably a week after we started training. I must confess his teaching is strict but slowly I see myself gaining confidence and most important follow all the rules and be safe; and as he says there is no shortcut to learning.

A photo a day 15th Dec

This is probably his favorite corner of the house and the corner which I hate the most. When I tell people that both of us work from home people give us those jealous stares and wicked grins but what they imagine in their head is very different from what goes on here. They imagine a bed while I imagine this corner.

Ghostly stares

As I sit behind him trying to get some random shots with my camera I find these expressions which capture my attention right away though not sure the reason behind those. Probably amazed what I was doing with the camera on a bike. However it gave me one classic shot to go here as my attempt of some street photography.

Hero of my Life

I couldn't stop myself from uploading this one. Today relatives at home, so have been busy with cooking which also made me realize that trying to be a nice daughter in law of the family is also such a task :D but totally worth when you are appreciated for the efforts and everyone leaves satisfied, full and happy.

We went to the mall with them. I was quite desperate to get my click of the day, so kept trying, got few random shots among which this hero photo of my hero I love the most.

A photo a day 12th Dec

You and I and my self baked cashew choco-vanilla cake - Photo for the fourth day. I felt this would be the best way to show our common love for cake..ahhh  sweets ahh.. or say anything which is edible :D

Post marriage I found my love with cooking all thanks to my love  (read lab rat) who sweetly eats every new experimental dish I make and the best part he loves them. The appreciation I get from him encourages me to try more things every day. With cakes I had done multiple experimentation and finally I could get the right blend of constituents. Now i have started making new additions every day like the cashews today and the vanilla choco combination which dissapeared soon after I clicked this photo. Yes you guessed it right we have a sweet tooth and we love to eat and that explains our round shape ;)

A photo a day 11th Dec

After starting this project I realized I have started observing patterns, colors, frames all the more. And every time I see something I would miss my camera more. Today was one of those days to realize I should carry my camera more often with me. World is surrounded with beautiful things all around us.

I always associated self portraits with self-obsessed people. But, after getting nothing significant throughout the day and getting bored with his snoring and without much sleep for myself I thought of randomly trying some self portraits. I tried out multiple shots and this one came out perfect. I am quite happy with my first attempt and probably will try more in future. This picture is a beautiful blend of shapes, patterns, colors, light and shade, expression and my hidden delight in getting this picture.

A photo a day 10th Dec

Post marriage we got really enthusiastic to buy few plants for our small balcony. He wanted flowering creepers. So we went to Lalbagh one day and bought five plants of which this particular plant was my favorite as it was creeping its way up with some beautiful flowers blooming once in a while and making me smile with delight. But little did we know that my love for travelling might get deadly for these beautiful plants soon.

My creeper plant survived the week we headed for our trip to Delhi trusting the rain gods.  I left again, this time trusting my husband with the watering but I come back to find totally withered state of this beautiful plant with just two green leaves still hanging to life.

Since then I see these green leaves every day and water with a hope that one day it might come back to life blooming with flowers once again. With a belief that tomorrow will be better and more green I get this shot for the second day of my project.

A photo a day 9th Dec

Finally I start my blog here with the idea to start the "a photo of day", so that I am motivated enough to pick up my camera everyday. After thinking over it quite a lot about the best subject for this project, documenting my life turned out to be a good idea to start with. I might end up with great memories to cherish later on.

I have a new rule in the house these days that he should smoke outdoors or quit smoking. It has two advantages : avoids passive smoking for me and laziness to go outside might reduce the frequency of smoking in a day but only if he sticks to those rules. Hopefully someday but for now it helped me get this shot for the 1st day of my project. :)
